Verbanese di nascita, Angelo Bonomi si è diplomato perito chimico all'Istituto
Cobianchi nel 1964 e proseguito gli studi all'Università di Milano ottenendo
la laurea in chimica industriale nel 1969. Ha iniziato la sua carriera nel 1970
presso il centro di ricerche di Ginevra del Battelle Memorial Institute www.battelle.org
, conducendo progetti di R&S e diventando capo della sezione di metallurgia
estrattiva, e anche ricerca scientifica nel campo dell'elettrochimica diventando
membro della Electrochemical Society americana. Nel 1980 si è trasferito
nel dipartimento di economia applicata di Battelle, conducendo studi di technology
assessment e sull'impatto delle nuove tecnologie nel mercato di prodotti industriali
e impianti. Nel 1988 ha raggiunto uno spin off di suoi colleghi diventando direttore
della Extramet, una società francese con laboratori di ricerca per l'industria
e per la generazione di startup. Nel 1993 ha iniziato una nuova attività
come consulente per l'innovazione tecnologica nei distretti industriali italiani
e nel campo ambientale. Il suo maggior contributo è stato la fondazione
del Consorzio Ruvaris nel 2006 per la cooperazione nella R&S di circa venti
aziende per la produzione di rubinetti e valvole www.ruvaris.it
. Negli anni accademici tra il 2001 e il 2004 ha insegnato management dell'innovazione
tecnologica in un corso di master di ingegneria gestionale presso la SUPSI,
la Scuola Universitaria Professionale della Svizzera Italiana www.supsi.ch
. Tra il 2012 e il 2022 ha collaborato come ricercatore associato all'IRCrES,
l'Istituto di Ricerca sulla Crescita Economica Sostenibile del CNR www.ircres.cnr.it
, conducendo studi sulla tecnologia e l'innovazione tecnologica. Egli è
membro del Consiglio Direttivo dell'associazione "La Storia nel Futuro"
www.storianelfuturo.org che organizza
dal 2005 viaggi studio nella Silicon Valley e hackathon per studenti italiani,
facendo in questo quadro anche studi sul sistema innovativo della Silicon Valley.
È autore del libro "Technology Dynamics, the generation of innovative
ideas and their transformation into new technologies" pubblicato da CRC
Press in 2020, e del libro "Technology Innovation, models, dynamics and
processes" anch'esso pubblicato da CRC Press nel 2023. È anche autore
di tre capitoli sulla tecnologia e l'innovazione nel libro "Innovation
Economics, Engineering and Management Handbook" edito dal Prof. Uzunidis
dell'università francese Le Littoral www.rri-littoral.fr
, e pubblicato da ISTE-Wiley in 2021.
Angelo Bonomi obtained in 1969 a Doctor in Industrial Chemistry degree of
the University of Milan, and started his career in 1970 as researcher at the
Geneva Research Centre of the Battelle Memorial Institute www.battelle.org
carrying out R&D projects, becoming head of the extractive metallurgy section,
and also making scientific research in the field of electrochemistry, becoming
member of The Electrochemical Society (New Jersey). In 1980 he changed his activity
collaborating with the applied economics department making studies on technology
assessment and impact of technology innovations on industrial products and equipment.
In 1988 he joined a spinoff of his colleagues becoming managing director of
Extramet, a French contract research laboratory also generator of startups.
In 1993 he started an activity as consultant for technological innovation and
environmental technologies, especially in Italian industrial districts. His
major contribution was the foundation of Consortium Ruvaris www.ruvaris.it
for the cooperation in R&D of about twenty firms producing faucets and valves.
In academic years 2001 to 2004 he taught management of technological innovation
for a master of engineering management at SUPSI, www.supsi.ch a technical university
of the Italian region of Switzerland. Between 2012 and 2022 he collaborated
as research associate, and after as research fellow, at IRCrES, a research institute
for a sustainable economic growth of CNR, the Italian National Research Council,
making studies on technology innovation and territorial innovation systems www.ircres.cnr.it
. He is member of the board of the association "La Storia nel Futuro",

2005 study tours in the Silicon Valley and hackathons for Italian students www.siliconvalleystudytour.com,
making in this frame also tours for the study of the innovation system of the
Silicon Valley. He is author of the book "Technology Dynamics, the generation
of innovative ideas and their transformation into new technologies" published
by CRC Press in 2020, and of the book "Technology Innovation, models, dynamics
and processes" also published by CRC Press in 2023. He is also author of
three chapters about models of technology and its innovation in the book "Innovation
Economics, Engineering and Management Handbook" Vol 1 and 2, edited by
Prof. Uzunidis and coworkers of the French University of Littoral www.rri-littoral.fr
, and published by ISTE-Wiley in 2021.
